about the artist

I am a visionary artist painting for over a half century. inspired by the divine feminine, sensuality, and the rich textures and colors found in nature. My spiritual practice deeply influences my work, guiding me to paint feminine Buddhas, chakra energies, and yoga-inspired imagery.
I work primarily in oils on canvas, as well as mixed-media assemblage using recycled materials, found objects, and organic elements from nature. I also create Goddesses and Spirit Dolls, and I teach workshops at my studio overlooking a five-acre lake in Poplarville, Mississippi, where I encourage others to explore their own creative expression.
Biography
Lori Felix has been creating art since childhood. At fifteen, her aunt gifted her a set of oil paints, and she instantly knew she had found her life’s calling. Drawn to the texture, scent, and fluidity of oils—and inspired by surrealists such as Salvador Dalí and Max Ernst—she developed a deep passion for intricate, dreamlike imagery.
By sixteen, Lori was studying figure drawing and stone sculpting on Long Island. After graduating in 1976, she earned multiple scholarships to the Art Students League in Manhattan, where she studied mural design and figure painting. In 1985, she received the prestigious Salvador Dalí Award.
Lori spent several years traveling across the U.S. and Mexico, painting murals while living in a 21-foot motorhome and working at renaissance festivals. These adventures deepened her bond with nature, which continues to shape her figurative oil paintings. Her work weaves the human form with organic textures, celebrating the sensuality and sacredness found in the natural world.
Now living beside a five-acre lake in Poplarville, Mississippi, Lori creates detailed, meditative oil paintings and leads workshops that inspire women to explore creativity through mixed-media art and handcrafted goddesses and spirit dolls. Painting remains her form of prayer—a channel for color, spirit, and story—intended to bring peace, harmony, and healing to those who experience her work.
